Descriptions:

Watch worlds collide when polar opposites Friday and Debbie fall head over heels for one another in this expanded Director’s Cut. The only major issue is the era they live in; it’s 1987, a time when expressing their truth comes with high stakes and hidden glances. Follow these two complex characters in a gripping tale about identity, systemic adversity, and the raw power of young romance. This film explores the nuances of finding oneself amidst the neon lights and cultural shifts of the late eighties, capturing the essence of a decade defined by both vibrant rebellion and quiet struggle.

1987 is an indie film that tells a heartfelt, sapphic, coming-of-age love story that unfolds across the changing seasons of the year 1987. Written and directed by Isabella Kerrigan, the film provides an intimate look at the courage required to love openly. Starring Frances Lake as the spirited Friday McGuire and Tabitha Kenworthy as the reserved Debbie O’Brien, the production also features the incredible talents of Mikaela Tonnison, Eliza Turner, Anka Kosanovic, and Ezekiel Maitland Smith. Behind the scenes, the high production value and period-accurate aesthetic were brought to life through the tech expertise of Isabelle Brennan and Lucinda Hogue.
