Set during a sweltering summer, To My Good Friend explores the unsettling relationship between the narrator and a childhood companion who begins to exhibit strange, destructive behaviors—from tearing hair to drawing blood. As the narrator cleans the wounds, a chilling question arises: “Isn’t it time to throw this away?”
Director Yunseon Lee uses personification to examine the lifecycle of discarded objects. Inspired by the sight of aimless trash, this short film serves as a poignant, moderate-temperature letter to the things we abandon. It is a personal yet universal story about the objects we outgrow and eventually leave behind.
