Hey! I’m Kaleb Fobair from BairView Films, and I’m thrilled to finally share Roadkill with you.
I wanted to give a little background on the project. Roadkill began as a student film I created while attending Missouri State University. Originally, it was written as a feature-length script, but due to time and budget constraints, my friend and I condensed it into a 30-minute proof of concept.
Two of my favorite horror subgenres are found footage and monster films, so I set out to merge those styles—blending the raw, immersive energy of found footage with the cinematic feel of traditional filmmaking. But Roadkill isn’t your typical creature feature. At its core, it’s about a toxic friendship and the lengths people will go to in pursuit of their dreams.
Even though we couldn’t tell the entire story, the response blew us away. Roadkill premiered at the historic Moxie Theater in Springfield, MO, in November 2024, with two sold-out screenings.
Who would’ve thought a small crew of student filmmakers could pull something like this off?
